Be a Rainbow in Someone Else’s Cloud

“Be a Rainbow in Someone Else’s Cloud” ~Dr. Maya Angelou

I used to think that in order to continue to progress on my spiritual journey, I would have to release the “negative people” in my life.  I wanted to surround myself only with people who were positive and weren’t going to bring my mood down.  Well, there have been a few messages that have come my way this week that have completely turned around my thinking in that area.

“When people are gossiping or speaking negatively, that is your opportunity to be a light bearer in that situation” ~Rev. Sylvia Sumter

“YOU are the representation of God in your life” ~ Iyanla Vanzant

“There is another way of looking at this” ~A Course in Miracles

I tried a new church on Sunday, and the minister was clearly speaking directly to me on that issue – her sermon was entitled “Be a Light Bearer”.   Then, during Oprah’s life class on Monday, Iyanla Vanzant said “YOU are the representation of God in your life”.  On Tuesday, my lesson in A Course in Miracles workbook was, “There is another way of looking at the world”, and it was all about shifting your perception of situations and saying to yourself in each difficult moment, “There is another way of looking at this”.  Wow.  Okay, okay…I hear you, God.  In every situation I have a choice – am I going to contribute to light or darkness in this situation?  I have to make the conscious effort to choose light.  And whenever I backslide, I’m forgiving myself and trying again.  I know it will take some work, but eventually my way of being will be “light” in all situations and relationships.  Who doesn’t want that?

Let’s “Be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud” today and every day!  Have a fabulous weekend everyone!  Love and Light!

“If you are filled with light, with no dark corners, then your whole life will be radiant, as though a floodlight were filling you with light” ~Luke 11:36 (NLT)

About the Author:

I used to live life shackled by fear, doubt, and worry. I put on a happy face while navigating my day-to-day duties, but I was emotionally drained, stressed, and unhappy. When I hit rock bottom, and was diagnosed with depression and anxiety, I was determined to live life differently. I knew there had to be another way. Out of that determination, and guidance from Spirit, the "Living in the Light" blog was born. It documents my spiritual journey out of the darkness and into the Light. After nine months of publicly sharing my journey, and consciously releasing my attachment to the ego, I experienced a powerful spiritual awakening. I went from living in fear, doubt, worry, and stress to complete inner peace. My greatest passion has become assisting others on their own journey to inner peace. My spiritual memoir, From Stress to Peace: An Intimate Journal on the Journey from Living in Darkness to Living in the Light, is available now on Amazon and BN.com. Click the tabs at the top of the page to learn more about the From Stress to Peace 21-Day Challenge, Living in the Light Retreats, 1:1 sessions, and the Living in the Light Community - all of which are designed to support your journey to inner peace. I appreciate you taking the time to visit the blog and look forward to supporting you in any way I can!
