When the Going Gets Tough…Keep Loving!

April 20, 2012 2 Comments

Like I said in the “About” section of this site, I started this blog to share the ups and downs on my journey to “Living in the Light”.  Well, today started off as a down day.  I woke up with a heavy heart due to facing judgement and opinions of some who disagree with my transparency.  I thought I was “over” being affected by the judgement of others, but I really couldn’t shake the hurt feelings (even after prayer and meditation).

Thank God for my sister-friends who always know the exact right thing to say to lift my spirits and remind me of who and whose I really am.  They reminded me that no one on this earth has the authority to judge me.  They reminded me to be patient, loving, and kind despite the actions of others.  They reminded me not to be judgemental back and to choose love instead.  They encouraged me to keep being authentic.  They reminded me that my healing comes from God and not from the acceptance of others.  They prayed that those who judged would find compassion and forgiveness in their hearts.  They prayed for me and my strength to press on.  Amen!

I am SO grateful for such amazing sisters (blood and spirit).  Their words truly lifted my spirits and I now am back to experiencing my natural state of wholeness and oneness with God.  Sometimes when you can’t lift yourself back up, it’s great to be surrounded with those who can remind you of who you really are and what really matters.  They helped me to respond with love instead of vengeance (because vengeance is not mine).

During lunch time today, I was listening to Rachelle Ferrell on YouTube (getting ready for tomorrow night’s concert…I am SO excited!) and I ran across this video that reminded me of my sister-friends.  It’s a video of Rachelle Ferrell singing with Ledisi after a concert and they are just being silly and showing their love for each other as friends…it reminds me of how we are when we’re together (laughing one minute…crying the next…loving always).  Thank you for being there, ladies!  I love you more than you know!

Also, I must say thank you to those who commented on the blog here and/or on Facebook and those that send private messages letting me know how much my transparency touched them…your words truly encouraged me to keep shining!  I pray for all those who are experiencing feelings of judgement…I send nothing but love to you.  May God bless you.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!  Much love!

About the Author:

I used to live life shackled by fear, doubt, and worry. I put on a happy face while navigating my day-to-day duties, but I was emotionally drained, stressed, and unhappy. When I hit rock bottom, and was diagnosed with depression and anxiety, I was determined to live life differently. I knew there had to be another way. Out of that determination, and guidance from Spirit, the "Living in the Light" blog was born. It documents my spiritual journey out of the darkness and into the Light. After nine months of publicly sharing my journey, and consciously releasing my attachment to the ego, I experienced a powerful spiritual awakening. I went from living in fear, doubt, worry, and stress to complete inner peace. My greatest passion has become assisting others on their own journey to inner peace. My spiritual memoir, From Stress to Peace: An Intimate Journal on the Journey from Living in Darkness to Living in the Light, is available now on Amazon and BN.com. Click the tabs at the top of the page to learn more about the From Stress to Peace 21-Day Challenge, Living in the Light Retreats, 1:1 sessions, and the Living in the Light Community - all of which are designed to support your journey to inner peace. I appreciate you taking the time to visit the blog and look forward to supporting you in any way I can!
