Miracles in the Jungle
I just got back from vacation in Costa Rica with my husband. Our two boys stayed with my in-laws while we enjoyed some quiet time together at a beautiful nature retreat. Think hammocks…beautiful scenery…walking trails…the sound of monkeys howling…grasshoppers…crickets…bright-colored frogs. It was so easy to just fall into a meditative state through just being still, looking around at the natural beauty, and listening. While I meditate daily at home, this was a very different experience – I truly saw and felt the peace of God vibrantly radiating through everything in almost every moment. I’m certainly not perfect at always seeing the “light” in everything, but this was as close as I had ever been to perfect divine sight. I was filled with unconditional love. It was powerful.
While we did some great activities, like yoga and zip-lining, my most memorable moments are those in which I was totally immersed in reading and writing in my journal. It was like my mind was all the way open and I was receiving new insights with each word that I read and/or wrote. I was on fire!
I have worked with the spiritual teaching, and guide to inner peace, A Course in Miracles for a while (I was first introduced to it in 2006), but had primarily focused on the workbook (which I always stopped and started) and the teacher’s manual because I found a lot of the text pretty challenging to comprehend. Well, on this trip, I read through it like I was reading the paper. Quickly sifting through the content and understanding it as if I had read it before. I couldn’t believe it! I know this is because I was being still, listening only to the Voice within instead of the ego which had always told me it was too difficult for me and I wasn’t “spiritual” or “enlightened” enough to understand it.

Going forward, I know my entries on this site will be even more heavily influenced by the messages I received through A Course in Miracles. There are way too many to summarize in this entry, so I will just let it flow naturally with whatever feels like the next insight to share in this forum. What I will share is two quotes that really sum up what I was reminded of during this quiet time in the jungle. These truths have transformed my life in such a dramatic way. I pray I can be of service in helping others also recognize the ever-present light within themselves and others. Keep shining, brothers and sisters!
“Do not perceive yourself in different lights. Know yourself in the One Light where the miracle that is you is perfectly clear.” ~A Course in Miracles
“Unless you perceive His creation truly you cannot know the Creator, since God and His creation are not separate.” ~A Course in Miracles
