Healing Music: Washing Away the Old Self
Music is healing to my soul. It is absolutely one of my favorite things. While I have my “go to” songs that ‘take me there,’ spiritually and emotionally, every now and then, I find a new gem that is equally as healing. One of those gems is by a new Cuban-French duo, Ibeyi. I heard about them over the summer, but I was recently reminded of why I fell in love with their music (Thanks to OkayAfrica for this week’s post about their upcoming world tour).
I wanted to share the song that has been on repeat all morning in our house. Click ‘play’ to listen and check out the lyrics below. Enjoy, and have a fabulous weekend! Keep shining!
Ibeyi – River Lyrics
CHORUS:
Come to your river
I will come to your river
I will come to your river
Come to your river
(Wash my soul)
I will come to your river
(Wash my soul)
I will come to your river
Wash my soul againCarry away my dead leaves
Let me baptize my soul with the help of your waters
Sink my pains and complaints
Let the river take them, river drown them
My ego and my blame
Let me baptize my soul with the help of your waters
Those old me’s, so ashamed
Let the river take them, river drown themCHORUS:
Come to your river
I will come to your river
I will come to your river
Come to your river
(Wash my soul)
I will come to your river
(Wash my soul)
I will come to your river
Wash my soul again
