I used to live life shackled by fear, doubt, and worry. I put on a happy face while navigating my day-to-day duties, but I was emotionally drained, stressed, and unhappy. When I hit rock bottom, and was diagnosed with depression and anxiety, I was determined to live life differently. I knew there had to be another way. Out of that determination, and guidance from Spirit, the "Living in the Light" blog was born. It documents my spiritual journey out of the darkness and into the Light. After nine months of publicly sharing my journey, and consciously releasing my attachment to the ego, I experienced a powerful spiritual awakening. I went from living in fear, doubt, worry, and stress to complete inner peace. My greatest passion has become assisting others on their own journey to inner peace.
My spiritual memoir, From Stress to Peace: An Intimate Journal on the Journey from Living in Darkness to Living in the Light, is available now on Amazon and BN.com. Click the tabs at the top of the page to learn more about the From Stress to Peace 21-Day Challenge, Living in the Light Retreats, 1:1 sessions, and the Living in the Light Community - all of which are designed to support your journey to inner peace. I appreciate you taking the time to visit the blog and look forward to supporting you in any way I can!
You are not Alone
Today is the birthday of one of my favorite artists, Prince. He doesn’t celebrate birthdays due to his faith, but I am still celebrating his life here on earth. I am always inspired by people who are fully expressing their God-given talents and living life with passion and on purpose – he is the absolute […]
The Power of Perception
Last night in my Foundations for Spiritual Living class, we spent a good amount of time discussing one of our assignments which was to select two articles – one that you perceived to be negative and another that you perceived to be positive. Each of us shared our interpretations of each of the articles and noticed our […]
Welcome Home
This morning when I went out the door, I couldn’t help but pause when looking at our “welcome” mat. I see it every day, but today it had a different meaning to me. I started thinking to myself, “who is not welcome here?”. At first I wasn’t sure why this strange question popped up in […]
Soul Costumes
My husband called me and asked me out on a spontaneous lunch date yesterday – I happily accepted. I even got dressed up, did my hair, and put on a little makeup (I work from home, so this is not my daily routine anymore…sweats and flip flops are my daily wardrobe). We had a great […]
Reflections on my Shadow
I had a beautiful weekend spending time with family. The day following our return to DC, I had some down time while the boys were napping. As I mentioned in an earlier blog, I don’t watch much TV but something led me to pick up the remote in that moment. I ended up landing on Oprah’s […]
Redemption Song
Yesterday I read a powerful comeback story about an artist that is near and dear to my heart, D’Angelo. I was first introduced to his music back in the 90s and was mesmerized. It was more than his looks that had my teenage self sweating…his music used to take me to such a deep place. […]
Walking the Talk
I am SO excited! Last week, I finished my 7-week spiritual bootcamp which really deepened my spiritual practice and got me into a daily routine that is manageable for me (shout out to Jennifer Hadley – my joy-filled bootcamp coach). I am right in the middle of another spiritual development course (week 7 of 12) that I’m taking on Tuesday […]
Morning Worship
Most mornings I listen to some music to ground me and to remember who and Whose I am. This morning I had the urge to create a new station on Pandora for Rickie Byars Beckwith (Rev. Michael Bernard Beckwith’s wife who is amazing and is full of the joy of the Spirit). After one of […]
Redefining Prayer
I hope everyone had a fabulous Mother’s Day! (Whether you raise your own or are part of the “village” that raises others’ children) I had a truly amazing day spending quality time with my husband, the boys, and my parents. I have SO much to be grateful for! One of the most memorable parts of my day came […]
Making Room for Inspiration
Excited doesn’t even come close to describing how I feel right now! I just got back from an incredible conference that has me more “fired up and ready to go” than I have been in a long time! (Side note: If you have not seen the “fired up and ready to go” video you have to watch […]
